My name is Rachael Mariani and I’m one of God’s kids! Lucky for me, because I also have a kid of my own and no idea what I’m doing. I am the stay at home mom of the most wonderful 2 year old little boy.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming to Uninvincible Mom to get the support and resources you need to rock stay at home mom life! It can be so hard taking care of little ones all day long and never finding time for yourself. My plan is to create an environment here that inspires and encourages you to grow closer to God, practice self-care, and kick the overwhelm that inevitably creeps in as the days go by.
You can use the Stay At Home Mom Survival Kit to get started–you can either print it out or type directly into it from your favorite electronic device!
My mom got sick not too long before I found out I was pregnant. She was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease, and unable to do the things I always imagined her doing as a grandmother. On top of being a new mom with not too many places to turn, I had an increasing responsibility to help with her care, as well. Needless to say, it has been hard–much more so emotionally and mentally than anything else–adjusting to all of the changes life has thrown my way. I am lucky to have mom friends and a strong relationship with Christ to carry me through, and I want that for you as well!
My story can seem very complicated when I try to explain it, but I’m going to try an overview here: I am a stay at home mom, which was decided by myself and my son’s father, Jim. We are together, but not married. I am home during the day with my toddler and my mom, making sure everyone has everything they need. Jim pops back and forth between here and his place where he lives with his grandfather–checking in before and after work, at the very least, to make sure that Pop has everything he needs as well. Jim and my dad both work and we felt that it makes the most sense for me to continue staying home rather than outsource care for both my mom and son (this is another driving factor for the launch of Uninvincible Mom–to ensure I can contribute financially and be with them as long as they need me). My brother also lives with us and we see him a few hours before he heads off to his crazy work schedule. Clearly, we have a lot on our plates, and this is probably just the tip of the iceberg!
One of my favorite quotes: God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
I am certainly not qualified, but this is where God called me to be. I am an imperfect, hot mess of a mom who falls short on a daily basis but still tries my hardest to live as He calls me to live. So I will rock my little corner of the internet in Jesus’s name until He leads me elsewhere. And please don’t let my humanity speak for His perfection–I will fall short here too. I will say the wrong thing, or offend someone by accident, and I need grace! Don’t let my shortcomings skew your perception of how God calls Christians to live. Just know I am growing and learning, and am a lot closer than ever before (even though I’m still far off).
With a little help from each other and a lot of help from Jesus, I think we can get this whole stay at home mom thing figured out!
